The Possible You
Facilitated by Rabbi Yom Tov Glazer
Please note: the following compilation of notes are the intellectual and textual property of Rabbi Yom Tov Glazer. Information presented in The Possible You Seminar is copyrighted material. Additionally, Rabbi Glazer and AISH Ha'Torah are not responsible for the misuse or misinterpretation of the information I have posted online. These notes are not to be reproduced without prior permission.
The essence of this class is based on the following principle:
Possibility is what you receive when you become present (not just aware) to the impact of an inauthentic way of being leading to a new realm of possibility that is an unforeseen victory over the past leaving you, and who you’re shared that with, moved, touched, and inspired.

Overcoming your Instincts
There's a banana inside a tight-barred cage. A monkey slips his fingers between the bars and reaches his arm towards the banana. When he grabs the banana, he clenches his fist and tries to pull out his arm. He's stuck. The banana won't come out of the cage. The monkey will not let go of the banana. It's not it's instinct.
Human Distinctions
Distinctions of being human
Things to work on:
1. Relationships that aren’t working
2. Goal that you wanted to accomplish
3. Ideal Relationship
4. Connection with God
We have to start BEING life, and not VIEWING life.
The main thing that stops us is reason, so we want to become unreasonable therefore unstoppable in our goals.
Big mood swings are good things for a Tzadek. But if you’re not in tune with who you are, these same moods swings can be very destructive.
When you start to head in a negative direction, just remind yourself,
“It is what it is.”
The Job Interview
In a job interview, if you see the world as abundant, then you’ll ask for 10% more.
If you’re in a low place, then you’ll ask for 10% less.
Empty & Meaningless
The world is meaningless. And thinking about meaninglessness is meaningless.
The potential U is realizing that you’re nobody, because once you realize this, then you can figure out who you are. Then, you can begin figuring out what you care about.
The Jews went to the desert, because you have to be nobody to create somebody. To make a choice who you are.
Don’t make the mistake and say something is empty and meaningless
The Book of Ecclesiastes
The main point of this book is a critique of materialism.
It even goes as far as to say the world is empty and meaningless: COMPLETELY!
Furthermore, here are the main points of King Solomon's poem of life:
a. Drop your loop
b. Be a nobody
c. Decide what you care about
d. Make a contribution
e. keep your word (do what you said you were going to do)
f. enjoy your life
g. Fear God, keep Hashem’s commandments
The Small Game = Personal development
The Big Game = Our contribution
The true freedom is to be nobody, and only when you’re nobody can you reach your true potential.
BEING and DOING
Changing your actions doesn’t necessarily change your behaviors
Changing your behaviors will change your actions
When you transform your being, your change is transformed to.
When you change your doing, your being does not necessarily change.
Conspiracy of Metiocracy
We don’t mean what we say
“Traffic stopped me.” “The printer stopped working”
“I’ll see you at 9:00.” “How’s it going?”
This is who we are.
This is who we are.

The Rules
During class, we realized that the words we share are just that: only words. In order to make it meaningful, we have to remember to make our words accountable for something. Giving rules and depth to the words you say makes those words more meaningful.

To DECIDE
From the root CIDE, which means TO KILL. Deciding kills other possible options.
Choice is not based on reason. Choice is just because.
Decisions are based on reasons.
Once you make a decision, now you must choose your decision.
The first 2 steps to mastering your Free Will:
1.) To constantly choose your decisions
2.) To be present in that choice
Living in the world of reason can make you miserable.
When you live in the world of choice, you’re always in the Garden of Eden.
You can continuously change the choices of your life.
You choose something, all that it is and all that it’s not. That’s what I choose.
I choose my Dad. All that he is, and all that he’s not. I choose to be o.k. that my Dad has Multiple Sclerosis. That the Dad that I got.
Free flow thinking Process Thinking
- Experiencing what is - Dealing with new concepts
Downfalls:
1. Overuse (leads to stress)
2. Misuse (leads to distress)
Learning how to wire process thinking to become free throw thinking; like when praying and learning.
This way, you get more process thinking time that is beneficial because it is not as stressful.
